Therapeutic Active Programming
The therapeutic active programming found at Milton Adult Day Services sets it apart from other settings for older adults found in our community. The activity-focused care revolves around encouraging participants to be connected, to participate, and to benefit from care that includes them, not care that is done to them. Daily participation is mentally stimulating and can slow disease progression. Functional status is maintained or enhanced over a longer period of time. Milton Adult Day Services focuses on what participants can do rather than their disability.
Therapeutic active programming consists of seven components that must be offered to each participant every day: social interaction, physical exercise, sensory stimulation, cognitive stimulation, spiritual expression, and past life’s work. Through therapeutic active programming, the participants feel a sense of satisfaction, joy, productivity, and purpose in a safe environment. The staff at Milton Adult Day Services designs creative programming that is easily adapted and simplified based on individual needs. Staff members are skilled at connecting participants’ life history with the here and now to create a sense of pleasure and success.
"He loves doing the activities, especially Wednesday’s woodworking. He loves working with his hands. He’s very creative and the activities bring out his creative side more. I enjoy the things he makes. He’s of happy and then I’m happy too!" - LP
